Happy 4th of July! It’s going to be a great four days!

In my bedroom I have a small collection of stuffed animals that rest on my bed or in the small sitting area. Most are sentimental or very girlie, but among these is one that belonged to my sister: Tinky Winky. Yes, the notorious “outed” purple teletubbie. As most people know teletubbies are characters in a children’s educational program on PBS. But Tinky Winky is there in my bedroom because he brings me countless moments of enjoyment. Squeeze his belly and he utters, “Tinky Winky” with the utmost enthusiasm–his giggling voice is great. Or, squeeze his belly again and he sings “Tinky winkle tinky winky.” It gets better. If you’re ever feeling down, Tinky Winky knows what to do, “big hug!”

I can’t explain why I’m so amused by this purple alien-like creature that pushes his shiny-screened belly to receive TV signals, but Iam. I realize there are just certain little things in life that make you smile, and it’s best not to question them. Just enjoy.
