Laughter is the shortest distance between two people
Of the many things my father exposed to me (like classic rock, NPR) PBS shows have always been a favorite. I always hated never finishing the Masterpiece Theater programs because it was past my bedtime on Sunday evenings (since I had school the next day). Although recently the family gathered Thursday evenings to watch (or re-watch in my case) the BBC series Pride and Prejudice with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. Seriously, who can say no to Jane Austen?
For my return to Austin though, my father gave me some movies to watch, among them Victor Borge‘s funniest moments. I had forgotten how much I loved his humor and, of course, piano performances. So I must impart on to you some of the jewels. Trust me, you’ll want to watch this clip.
So how is it that Borge was still able to pull off his comedy routine with finesse at such an old age? Or my physical geography professor able to deliver soils lectures with such humor and interest? Or a Jewish culture professor I had who’s grandfatherly charm always made me smile? I’m sure with age comes wisdom and wit, something a 20-something-year-old girl cannot master.
Yes, I want the humor of an old man.
