BFFs Angie and Kristan blog about anything, everything, and sometimes even nothing.

Instead I looked like this

Jenn and I had a lovely time catching up at Jo’s Coffee just chatting away on 2nd Street for the lamest event ever, but we still managed to have fun. (My only stipulation was that we make it back in time so I could see Barack Obama speak, where I subsequently made another friend wait for me to finish watching the speech before I went out again. Completely on a side note, are you surprised by McCain’s pick Sarah Palin?) Anyhow I busted out my awesome orchid purple shorts (image included just so you can see the color) from French Connection yesterday, although I still haven’t figured out how I should wear them.

From our conversation, I started thinking about the friends I’ve made since freshman year, how things have changed since then and who I still even keep in touch with.

It reminded me of the private concert featuring Lyle Lovett and His Large Band I attended last week when I was home. Apparently the CEO has been friends with Lovett for 30 years since their freshman year at A&M. They also would have jam sessions with Robert Earl Keen. (BTW, the performance was incredible, although the pro-oil and gas stance a little much, and I certainly have a renewed appreciation for folk and country music.) For my closest friends, 30 years from now though, are we still going to be such good friends while leading very different lives? Will success mar communication?

Somehow I know that for my best friends, 30 years from now, we will remember high school press nights filled with cookies (man those cookies were good), ridiculous posse like Mayo 50, the car rides with off-key singing to college, and the all those sleepovers and giggly conversations. And I can only hope that all the ones I’ve made in between, our friendships will be just as good.
