Sometimes girls have a right to be vain

by Angie

When you are in a good relationship, it’s always nice because there is someone who always makes you feel beautiful. While this applies to your inner beauty, girls have a right to embrace their outer beauty as well. Of course, when you’re not in a relationship, it’s a little harder to believe in the reinforcement of what’s outside.

As girlfriends we compliment how we look, and while we appreciate each other’s support because it’s truthful, sometimes it does make a difference coming from a guy, especially when it’s genuine. This is not a rehearsed line, nor a one-time deal because you’re all dressed-up. It’s that feeling you just know (with or without words) that he thinks you are the most beautiful.

I’m not one to get dolled up, funny enough with all my dresses. The closest thing to trying would be dressing more professionally on Mondays because of my TA class. But when I “dress-up” with friends, it involves me putting on a dress and maybe some lip gloss. If you’re really lucky, heels. You’re not going to see me bust out make-up or anything. I just want to have fun and enjoy my time, and I’m just not in the mood to impress (nor do I want to be impressed).

I guess I just want to be liked for who I am, not someone I am that night. Because when you’re lucky, there is someone who finds you so beautiful, without the cover of fancy clothes and make-up. Just you in your own skin.

I kind of miss knowing that.

Said little angel with the bottle, I don’t love you anymore

by Angie

I FINALLY found that song that was stuck in my head. AHH!! So EXCITED!

Wear My Ring by Bart Crow Band

It figures that my favorite Texas artist song is a sad, angry one.

Back Story: There was a time I loved a song, but all I had was the melody stuck in my head. No lyrics and no idea who the band is. Last night I go dancing and Midnight Rodeo DJ (and they’re playing there tonight) puts this song on near the end, and as soon as I hear it I run off the floor ask him what the title of the song is and who it’s by, run over to find someone to dance, grab friend with hips and demand dance, run back to the floor and two-step very giddily.

Yes, Kristan that’s ALL CAPS because I was THAT excited. Bows.

More interesting than all the financial news

by Angie

How cool is this!

The oldest dates, which came from rocks that geologists call “faux amphibolite,” are thought to be ancient volcanic deposits. They beat the previously oldest known rocks, which are 4.03 billion years old and come from a formation called the Acasta Gneiss in Canada’s Northwest Territories.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking: Rocks? Old? Gee how fascinating (conks head to table). But seriously, can you imagine finding pieces of the earth that date almost as far back as earth’s actual formation, relatively speaking.

It’s just as exciting as travertine terraces at Yellowstone (and I’m not being sarcastic).
