Might as well get cultural during my time off
Tonight* I got back from a student production with Xilu on campus for Our Lady of 121st Street in the Lab Theater (tiny black box). The last time I went there was freshman year with Mitza and an ex-boyfriend, and was freaked by Stonewater Rapture. (It really gets under your skin.) However, Our Lady of 121st Street was really good! The cast was pretty strong (except the guy who played Flip), and there was one scene I was moved by (with Edwin and Pinky).
Thursday night (before my mis-dance) Marian and I attended HRC’s Flair Symposium for the opening panel on “Writers on the Future of Reading.” Although a little disorganized, we were both mesmorized by Amy Tan and thought the anecdotes each writer provided as responses were fun.
Tomorrow I’m debating whether or not I’ll be up for Waller Creek clean-up. It’s something I’ve done (almost) every semester since I’ve been here, and it is ridiculous how much it has grown (in a good way). The turnout is larger and large each semester–to the extent they might not need me. There’s also a tree planting going on, and I haven’t had a chance to hit shovel to dirt since last semester when I planted the fruit trees along San Jacinto.
*Unfortunately I’m not as lucky as Eunice who gets to see Ghostland Observatory tonight–and she dones’t even know who they are! Life is so unfair.

What did Amy Tan say?!
Oh you’ll see, not just Amy Tan but what Denis Johnson, Tim O’Brien and Lee Blessing said, soon.
