Inauguration fashion
After much anticipation, yesterday we finally got to see what everyone wore to Inauguration. Check out the beautiful clothing:
Michelle Obama looks STUNNING in this Jason Wu dress. (Photo by Jason Reed/REUTERS.)
Obama’s tux is pretty standard, but omg this photo! (Photo by Saul Loeb/AFP.) I also get all teary-eyed whenever I see them kissing, or basically see Obama looking at Michelle, because he clearly loves her as much (if not more) each day as he did the first day he met her. It’s adorable.
I also think Jill Biden is gorgeous, and she too gazes adoringly at Joe Biden, which says more to me about him than anything else. Gorgeous red dress. (Photo by Gerald Herbert/AP.)
Last but not least, the Mini Obamas, Sasha and Malia, who are ADORABLE. I have to admit, I was surprised and a bit disappointed that the Obama family didn’t match at the swearing in — because seriously, they always match! — but now that I see this shot of all of them together, they sort of match by not matching…? Anyway, the girls looked quite cute as usual. (Photo by Chuck Kennedy/Pool/REUTERS.)
Also I hear there are rumors about Sasha getting a book deal because of all the pictures she’s taking — so like a coffee table type book, or a photo book for kids. Uh, hi, I want a book deal too!
Anyway, yesterday was a big day for a lot of reasons, not the least of which was fashion. (Oh yeah, and history, right?) I hope y’all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Yes Yes Yes! I loved that dress and she did look stunning!
It is completely adorable how in love the Obamas and the Bidens are. Huffington Post will often do slideshows of PDA moments. I think their most recent is “Inaugural PDA”.
When you see the whole Obama family together in pictures, it’s kind of like a subtle version of red, white, and blue. Michelle in pale yellow, Malia in her dark blue, and Sasha in pink does sort of evoke our national colors. I suspect that was part of the point.
Also, Jill Biden’s dress is fabulous. I hadn’t seen it before, but red is seriously her color (and it’s quite obvious she knows it).
What I like best about Michelle’s Inaugural dress is really just how well it flatters her figure. She’s a little bottom-heavy, and she’s chosen some outfits that emphasize that in a bad way (I thought her election night dress was one of those). But the shape of her dress last night was just perfect for her – it skimmed right over her hips, and made her look tall and slim without looking like an Amazon. :)

Hmm, I’m not sure I see the red, white & blue, because Michelle’s outfit came across strongly as gold to me (and actually kinda greenish in this photo lol). But whatevs.
I TOTALLY AGREE about Michelle’s figure, and how her election night dress did NOTHING for her. I DID like it better on her than on a model (see this post and scroll down: http://www.mrs-o.org/?p=1016 ) but it just was not that flattering. This dress, on the other hand, was PERFECT.
