Year of the Ox

by Angie

Yesterday I was finishing my last bottle of Sublime Mate by Honest Tea that I saved, and the pop cap reminded me, “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.” I agree that you never how important of an influence you can be to others, or how they are to you.

With last night welcoming the Chinese New Year, I’m embracing the fact that change is occurring on so many levels, personally and globally. Because I didn’t make any New Year’s Resolutions for Jan. 1, I’m taking the moment to say this year I will do things that (a) make me happy and (b) help better the world, be it continual support to my friends, volunteering, or simply acting as a positive force.

The condition of putting myself first is because I’ve spent a lot of time for the concern of others and frankly, no one ever needs to worry about me. Not that they will need to now, but I want to make sure I’m intrinsically fulfilled because you can’t help others if you don’t believe in yourself.

I agree: it’s not being selfish or less caring to others. Everyone needs to take care of themselves.

Sounds like some good resolutions. :) Xin nian kuai le!
