WHY 2 COLUMNS?
On the left side of our blog, we post thoughtful things - deep, funny, or personal. On the right side, we post beautiful things - often music, pictures, and video that we like.
Think of it as brain food + eye candy.
We think each is important in its own way, so we make sure you can easily see both!
Today I discovered the White House’s official Flickr photostream. Yet another wonderful avenue of transparency and humanization by Obama’s administration. (Yes, I confess, I’m a fan.) Also, the photography is quite good. Check it out!
My favorite pictures are, of course, of Bo, their new Portuguese water dog (and one of food, haha):
So this was the happy ending to all the difficult times I had been through, and whenever I remembered my life in Europe, I would end with the story of a man passionately in love with me, and who would always be mine, because I had visited his soul.
Ah, Ralf, you have no idea how much I love you. I think that perhaps we always fall in love the very first instant we see the man of our dreams, even though, at the time, reason may be telling us otherwise, and we may fight against that instinct, hoping against hope that we won’t win, until there comes a point when we allow ourselves to be vanquished by our feelings. That happened on the night when I walked barefoot in the park, cold and in pain, but knowing how much you loved me.
Yes, I love you very much, as I have never loved another man, and that is precisely why I am leaving, because, if I stayed, the dream would become reality, the desire to possess, to want your life to be mine…in short, all the things that transform love into slavery. It’s best left like this–a dream.
So I fell over again after seeing this place. Korakia is exactly the the kind of getaway I’d imagine. All I’ve been craving these days is some kind of nature-inspired escape. So someone take pity on me and take me here! Or if you know of an Austin equivalent, I’m easily pleased :)
When my old car Davy Baby’s brakes started crapping out after 12 years, my dad decided to buy me a new car out of concern for my safety. (Lucky me, I know.) Well he likes making big purchases in two variations, one for my mommy and one for me. So this should have come as no surprise.
Mom: So your father got me a new car. Me: What? Why do you guys never tell me these things? Mom: That’s why I called. So guess what he got me. Guess! Me: Umm…the Acura suv? Mom: No. Guess! Me: I don’t know. Mom: Well he told me that I should get the Honda Civic. Me: ……..Seriously?! (This is the man who said the Civic was too small and was pushing towards an suv.)
Mom: He got me the car that the Asian mommies drive. Me: AHHHH! The Asian Mommy Car! Mom: Yeah! The Asian Mommy Car!
(after sobering up from materialistic tendencies…or not) Me: Hey, how come he didn’t get me the Acura? Mom: You’re not old. Me: I see. Another thing to look forward to when I age.
Me: Can I drive it when I come home? Mom: Of course.
For those curious as to what the Asian Mommy Car is, it is actually my mommy’s dream car. So go dad!
This bathroom remodel was posted on Design*Sponge a few weeks ago and I’m pretty sure I fell over when I saw it. When I got back up, I started oggling the blue stone tile, the wood paneling, the hidden toilet behind the mirror door, the custom sink that opens up, the leather trim for sliding door handles, and mostly, that beautiful view outside. Who cares if it’s for a guy, I love it. It’s designed and built by Bryan Boyer.
