How my dad rolls

by Angie

When my old car Davy Baby’s brakes started crapping out after 12 years, my dad decided to buy me a new car out of concern for my safety. (Lucky me, I know.) Well he likes making big purchases in two variations, one for my mommy and one for me. So this should have come as no surprise.

Mom: So your father got me a new car.
Me: What? Why do you guys never tell me these things?
Mom: That’s why I called. So guess what he got me. Guess!
Me: Umm…the Acura suv?
Mom: No. Guess!
Me: I don’t know.
Mom: Well he told me that I should get the Honda Civic.
Me: ……..Seriously?! (This is the man who said the Civic was too small and was pushing towards an suv.)

Mom: He got me the car that the Asian mommies drive.
Me: AHHHH! The Asian Mommy Car!
Mom: Yeah! The Asian Mommy Car!

(after sobering up from materialistic tendencies…or not)
Me: Hey, how come he didn’t get me the Acura?
Mom: You’re not old.
Me: I see. Another thing to look forward to when I age.

Me: Can I drive it when I come home?
Mom: Of course.

For those curious as to what the Asian Mommy Car is, it is actually my mommy’s dream car. So go dad!

Would your dad like to bankroll a poor artist while she works towards publication? Because mine sure doesn’t want to… :P
