Smart phone, or dumb phone?
In anticipation of her new job in NYC (!!!!!) Angie is now the owner of a smart phone. Specifically, a BlackBerry. Already she’s using it to text, email, and chat while on the go. She’s probably also staging a secret takeover of the world. Why? BECAUSE THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT.
Meanwhile, I have an LG Chocolate, and that’s already too much phone for me. I hit the wrong buttons all the time, and I only ever use it for 4 things anyway: (1) receiving calls, (2) making calls, (3) receiving texts, and (4) alarm clock.
The funny thing is, I’m a somewhat of a tech junkie. I love learning about and/or owning the latest gadgets, but cell phones just don’t do it for me. I guess because I don’t like their non-mobile counterparts either. I have a hard time focusing on a conversation with someone who isn’t physically present, so I prefer online chatting to phone calls because if I miss something, I can just scroll up!
That said, it does get tiresome lugging around a cell phone, an iPod, and a digital camera (along with the 6 billion other things in my purse). I would definitely love to have ONE device that does it all. The drawbacks, of course, are cost, battery life, and availability. As in, a device like that would make me ALWAYS available, something that most definitely does not appeal to me. Especially since it goes both ways, and I’m already someone who could probably benefit from “unplugging” every now and then.
My phone is eligible for a free upgrade and I’m stuck on what to do: go smart, go dumb, or stay somewhere in between.
What do y’all have? Smart phone, dumb phone, no phone? Why or why not? Take the little poll below, and/or leave a comment.

Sooo…. does this mean you’ll be visiting NYC sometime soon??
Lol. 2010, probably.
O laughed at this post. He’s poking fun because I used to hate smart phones and now once you go blackberry, you can’t go back. Ahh New York, what you do to me. I actually voted no phone, but let’s face it, it’s necessary evil. You’re probably fine with “dumb phone.”
Hopefully I’ll get around to posting soon.
Does O have a BlackBerry?
Also: glad I could make someone laugh. :)
