WHY 2 COLUMNS?
On the left side of our blog, we post thoughtful things - deep, funny, or personal. On the right side, we post beautiful things - often music, pictures, and video that we like.
Think of it as brain food + eye candy.
We think each is important in its own way, so we make sure you can easily see both!
I’m totally loving Katy Perry’s new album, Teenage Dream. (Granted, I loved her first album too…) There’s a healthy mix of fun and serious, sex and love, jam and groove. ”Circle the Drain,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Last Friday Night” are probably my favorites, but the latter is definitely the most fun. I mean, just listen!
Last Friday night
Yeah we danced on tabletops
And we took too many shots
Think we kissed but I forgot
Last Friday night
Yeah we maxed our credit cards
And got kicked out of the bar
So we hit the boulevard
Last Friday night
We went streaking in the park
Skinny dipping in the dark
Then had a menage a trois
Last Friday night
Yeah I think we broke the law
Always say we’re gonna stop This Friday night (do it all again) This Friday night (do it all again)
(Maybe I just like to live vicariously through my music, since I’m so boring/square, hehehe.)
Sometimes I wish I could forget. But then would I un-learn the lessons I paid for so dearly?
It’s not that I’m bitter (except, maybe I am just a little). And it’s not that I would do things differently (because I don’t think I was wrong). But I can’t help looking back on that time — not often, but more often than I’d like.
Sometimes it’s hard to forget the people they used to be.
Sometimes I don’t recognize myself in the person they almost made me become.
I am loving on decor8 today, because she introduced me to the amazing illustrator Hillary Bird. I absolutely ADORE this girl + bear series, and Hillary’s style in general.
Isn’t that just the greatest adventure?! (The second one is my favorite.)
