Angie, definitely check it out. It’s totally up your alley, like with the pictorials.

Saw this sign in Savannah, Georgia and loved it:
Left side: We sharpen anything but your wits.
Right side: We fix anything but a broken heart.

Kristan wrote about “projects” or really efforts she was proud of, and in my response, I realized as I wrote it, I am proud of my move. The process, moving everything from Austin to Houston and then cramming my life into two suitcases for New York, was hasty. The months of summer filled with my friends and dancing, were sadly ended. Mostly the comfort of everything that I have known for the past six years in Austin were let go. I don’t know why, but I am very proud of myself for this move. It is a big change, but a good one as I keep at it.
I also made it through my very first snow fall, complete with my first snow angel. You can barely see it because I wasn’t very good at it, nor did I know how to get out of the snow…but I left a message.

I’m a lover of peppermint bark, so when I saw this Real Simple Chocolate-Peppermint Wafers recipe, I decided it’s worth trying. I tweaked the recipe a little and used whole wheat flour (so it’s more like pecan sandie than sugar cookie). Next time I’m sticking with white flour/combination (dough seems good for a pie/cheesecake crust), and bracing my hands because crushing candy canes is a little difficult. I’m just impressed I was able to make them considering my kitchen is half the size of what I used to have and my oven is weak sauce.
More pics after the jump, but I wanted to say that my coworkers taste tested them today and liked them!

Earlier today I finally made it over to Hells Kitchen Flea Market (although not much happening because of the weather) but I managed to find the most amazing vintage beaded dress. This evening, I got to catch up with an old friend, eat sushi and cupcakes and look at lights at Rockefeller. All in all a good day out of a very cold, wet, few sprinkles of snowflakes day.
