Why 2 columns?
On the left side of our blog, we post thoughtful things - deep, funny, or personal. On the right side, we post beautiful things - often music, pictures, and video that we like.
Think of it as brain food + eye candy.
We think each is important in its own way, so we make sure you can easily see both!
Today I discovered the White House’s official Flickr photostream. Yet another wonderful avenue of transparency and humanization by Obama’s administration. (Yes, I confess, I’m a fan.) Also, the photography is quite good. Check it out!
My favorite pictures are, of course, of Bo, their new Portuguese water dog (and one of food, haha):
After much anticipation, yesterday we finally got to see what everyone wore to Inauguration. Check out the beautiful clothing:
Michelle Obama looks STUNNING in this Jason Wu dress. (Photo by Jason Reed/REUTERS.)
Obama’s tux is pretty standard, but omg this photo! (Photo by Saul Loeb/AFP.) I also get all teary-eyed whenever I see them kissing, or basically see Obama looking at Michelle, because he clearly loves her as much (if not more) each day as he did the first day he met her. It’s adorable.
Okay, I haven’t loved all her choices, but I DO think it’s cool that Michelle Obama has a younger, “hipper” fashion sense than most of the previous First Ladies of our generation, or any female politician of prominence, really. So I was thinking about blogging her clothes every week or every day… but of course, someone jumped on that idea already!
Mrs. O is meant to track Michelle Obama’s fashion choices in the times to come, and I confess, I’ll probably tune in. At least if she keeps wearing stuff like this:

This Maria Pinto dress totally flatters her figure (unlike, imho, the black and red Narciso Rodriguez dress from Election Night) — downplaying her hips and elongating her legs. I love it, and I kind of want it!
Also, kind of random, but some Project Runway favorites were asked to design gowns for her for Inauguration night, and these were the resulting sketches.
